The Ran occurrence is located about 2.5 kilometres north of Matetlo Creek and Tutizzi Lake, approximately 81 kilometres north-northwest of the community of Germansen Landing.

At the showing, volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Plughat Mountain Formation (Takla Group) are cut by a 10 to 20 metre wide quartz vein. Rusty fractures are coated with malachite and chalcopyrite. A sample taken for geochemical analysis yielded 0.16 per cent copper, 0.005 gram per tonne gold and 4 grams per tonne silver (Open File 1993-2, Map Number 7).
